It’s suggested that it is because of low back pain and reduced abdominal muscles during and after pregnancy that sets up the spine for this condition. (3) One study stresses the fact that weak abdominal muscles affect the stability of the spine and likely promote the condition known as degenerative spondylolisthesis.
