Juneau Dizziness and Neck Pain Care at Aurora Chiropractic Center

May 25, 2021

Dizziness is a problem. Alone, dizziness can be upsetting, but it can also affect balance and lead to falls. Dizziness with associated cervical spine disc degeneration can be a problem for folks of an older age. Aurora Chiropractic Center shares new research about chronic neck pain and its relationship to dizziness as well as the role Juneau chiropractic care plays in neck pain relief and oftentimes related dizziness.

CERVICAL SPINE DISC DEGENERATION AND DIZZINESS

Patients with chronic neck pain due to cervical degenerative disease often have dizziness as well as neck pain. Many existing studies, both clinical and basic science, describe the connection of cervical disc degeneration and dizziness. A new study pointed out that cervicogenic general dizziness was the diagnosis for 89% of such patients. Improper neck postures over long time periods may contribute when there is existing degenerative cervical disc disease. Men and women have separate prompts for their dizziness. For example, farming, gardening, and weeding may initiate general dizziness, especially in women who are older. (1) Surgeons reporting on a new surgical approach to relieving chronic neck pain explained that current clinical and immunohistochemical studies strongly suggested that chronic neck pain and intractable dizziness came from degenerated cervical spine discs. The dizziness occurred with only cervical disc degeneration alone without cervical radiculopathy or myelopathy. (2) Such degenerative disc disease in the neck also has been found to be accompanied by inflammation, particularly inflammatory cytokines that affect mechanoreceptors like the Ruffini corpuscles in degenerated discs resulting in dizziness. The good news: a majority of patients with cervical disc disease and related dizziness report that conservative treatment is effective for them. (3) Aurora Chiropractic Center is the home for conservative chiropractic care of Juneau neck pain and degenerated cervical discs.

CHIROPRACTIC CONSERVATIVE CARE FOR DIZZINESS

An Australian study of chiropractic care of neck pain patients who also experienced dizziness revealed that chiropractic is frequently used by these patients to manage their neck pain. One in five people over age 70 years experienced neck pain. 57.3% of chiropractors stated that the neck pain and related dizziness was moderately responsive to their chiropractic conservative care. (4) Aurora Chiropractic Center utilizes the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management in treating cervical disc degeneration and its related Juneau neck pain.
