Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found
Every parent wants care for their child that is gentle, thoughtful, and focused on what they truly need. Two recent studies released in September 2026 offer a clearer look at why families take their children to the chiropractor and how parents feel about the experience.
WHY FAMILIES TURN TO CHIROPRACTIC
Investigators in Australia and Canada analyzed visits by 605 young people, ages 17 and under, cared for by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the most common reason for a visit in each age group, showing that many families see chiropractic as an important part of keeping their kids healthy and on the move. Back problems were the most common issue chiropractors diagnosed, and teenagers accounted for nearly half of all visits. That's no surprise, since growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and long stretches of screen time all challenge young spines.
FAMILIES FEEL HEARD AND VALUED
A second study followed 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents evaluated three parts of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the respect and warmth from the chiropractor and office staff. On the whole, parents described favorable experiences across all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. In short, parents felt listened to, part of the decision-making, and treated kindly, which means so much when the patient is your child.
